As we landed in Southern Italy (we couldn't catch the Venice ferry until late October), we had to head to the IMMENSE Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii that were TOTALLY captivating....
Mt. Vesuvius is UNREAL and we were absolutely SPELLBOUND from the off - all this whilst we took a leap into the past at Ancient Pompeii, what can we say, this place is SO powerfully moving and crazily absorbing on a vast scale.
We would have been insanely excited to get up at top of Vesuvius, this time with the doggies in the heat and the size of our van this was a no go..... next time WE'RE THERE!
We stayed at Camping Spartacus right by the archeological site - great people and lovely campsite.... also unbeknown to us, this was where Kate's parents stayed whilst backpacking Europe, 43yrs ago almost to the day, when it was an orange, lemon and mandarin orchard!
